Santorini - A Island in the Aegean Sea

Santorini or Thera (as is well known worldwide), is one of the most beautiful and unique islands that exist in the globe. It is the southernmost island of the Cyclades in the southern Aegean Sea.

The island has an intriguing storyline, a stunning volcanic landscape, cosmopolitan, breathtaking sunsets environment, a deep blue sea, a volcano, these are just some of the reasons that make Santorini the most popular tourist destination in Greece. It also has a metaphysical energy Thira incorporated once the visitor navigates the boiler and marvel at its sheer cliffs.

A dream Santorini Island Fira Aegean Sea, Oia, Imerovigli are just some of the towns that are located on the cliffs with magnificent views of the Aegean Sea, the volcano and the nearby islands of Folegandros and Sikinos.

Santorini is definitely the most extraordinary island in the Aegean Sea. Air travel over deep volcanic cliffs covered their houses and churches with gleaming white village charm blue sea, make it look like snow-capped mountains. The thunderous fury of nature has left its mark on the island, which was the epicenter of the eruption of the last active volcano in Greece. Layer after layer of red volcanic rock, interspersed with patches of white buildings and vegetation that form a visual spectacle not seen anywhere else in the world.

Santorini Island Sea EgeoTodo the center of the island sank into the sea during the great volcanic explosion 3,500 years ago. The eruption triggered tsunamis that virtually wiped out the advanced Minoan civilization of Crete, 70 miles south. Some scholars believe that the island is part of the legendary lost continent of Atlantis, which supposedly slipped underwater during the disaster. What remains today of Santorini is a large island in the shape of a crescent, enclosing a large bay, the largest caldera on earth (7 × 14 mi). There are also four much smaller islands surrounding the main: Thirassia, Nea Kameni, Palia Kameni and Aspronisi.
