Colombia receives award as best ecotourism destination

The award was presented at the World Tourism Fair, held in Shanghai. 

Colombia was chosen as the best ecotourism destination in the World Travel Fair held in Shanghai, an event that brought together over 550 exhibitors in the world and in the country surpassed Russia, Sri Lanka and Seychelle, informed the president of Proexport Colombia, María Claudia Lacouture. 

The award was presented during a ceremony organized by the steering committee of the World Travel Fair and Tourism office in Shanghai also was recognized the best destinations, hotels, airlines, routes and travel agencies. 

The jury, composed of members of the club rating 'Love Travel, Love the Earth', tourism industry professionals and delegates from various media, chosen as the winner of this category thanks to biodiversity and variety of experiences that Colombia the country offers tourists interested in doing a nature trip. 

"The product of nature is part of the 36 unique experiences that promotes Prexport in the world. For example, the Asian market is interesting options such as bird watching and whale watching, and the wealth of biodiversity, climate and places" 

said Maria Claudia Lacouture, president of Proexport. 

The award is an opportunity for Colombia to actively promote among travelers in China, particularly in Shanghai, a city that most tourists from that country issuers. 

Proexport analysis found that in China there has been a change in consumption patterns and travel for vacation has become trend and need for the Chinese, who also seek to know other countries and visit exotic places, it is considered to travel equals outside cultural enrichment.
